![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Siri Remote Volume/Mute Not Working After the frustration of going through 3 remotes on my AppleTV HD, I just settled on using my iPhone as a remote for a while. So that’s why I believe it is possible that my cox contour remote might be doing something similar. I discovered what was causing that though, I had an app installed into the Apple TV called BT Inspector, and I had left it running and it must have been using background app refresh because it was pinging my remote and keeping it active. I have discovered that other Bluetooth devices can certainly communicate with the Siri remote, because about a week before I had this issue, I had another issue where my new silver remote started draining battery rapidly- from 100% down to 20 in about three hours. I haven’t messed with that Cox remote since this happened. ![]() There may be a key or a button that interferes with the touchpad on the Siri remote, and maybe I did a dual program or something and that remote is trying to communicate with the touchpad. I don’t understand what could be causing this issue, but I have a theory, and if anybody agrees or disagrees I would like to hear about it: I think it might have something to do with the cox contour remote, because I was trying to program that into my Apple TV earlier on the day when the silver Siri started going buggy. Which I am thinking now was not new even though it was sold as new. So I am hoping that it will continue to work, while I deal with returning the “new“ remote. in frustration, I paired my original silver remote, and it has been working for about 12 hours so far. I even ordered a new silver Siri remote and I tried everything to pair it, it is either not charging or the Bluetooth doesn’t work. I would pair the new remote every two or three days to see if it would respond, because the day after the touchpad stopped working I had re-paired the remote, and the touchpad worked for about two minutes then it stopped working again. So I had to start using my original remote again and I would just have to charge it up every night. Mostly, this was happening in the Settings app, but it would happen just about anywhere else I suppose. I would have to exit out of the menu using the RCA TV remote to get it to stop trying to continue its downward movement. it started acting weird when I tried using the outer ring to move the Focus up or down, when I pressed up, the focus would move all the way down to the lowermost item in the list of choices for whatever menu I was in, and then it would just sit there and it would act like it was still being pressed down, rather than up. Which was convenient because if I didn’t have my Apple TV remote on hand, I could control playback with one of these other remotes.īut then suddenly, the touchpad on my new silver Siri remote just stopped responding. I had noticed that the remote for that box and also my RCA TV remote, would control certain aspects of my Apple TV. The original remote never lasted much longer than a week before having to recharge, the new one would last up to 80 days in some cases.Ībout three weeks ago I was using one of my other remotes to control my Cox Contour box. Because my original Siri remote battery had gone bad, (the black one that I got with my first generation Apple TV 4K), I ordered one of the new silver ones last summer in August or so. ![]()
